Newcastle-Upon-Tyne (or more commonly know as just Newcastle) is a vibrant, exciting City packed with history, character, shopping, the arts and a great night scene! You won't be disappointed with a City break in Newcastle, not only is there so much to do it also serves as a great base to explore the surrounding areas and Northumberland.
The modern Quayside Area down by the Tyne gives the perfect juxtaposition to the older, more historic City Centre buildings. It really is a spectacular place with views of the Tyne bridges, the Sage (which looks incredible at night) and many great places to eat and drink. It's quickly become one of Newcastle's top attractions in its own right.
Newcastle is connected to Gateshead by it's many famous bridges over the Tyne including the iconic Tyne Bridge and the newer Gateshead Millenium Bridge which connects the glorious Quayside with the Gateshead Quays Arts Quarter which includes the Baltc Centre of Contemporary Art and the beautiful Sage. The Arts scene in and around Newcastle is electric, in addition to the Baltic and the Sage there is the wonderful Theatre Royal in the City Centre and a personal favourtie the Indie Tyneside Cinema.
Nights out in the 'toon' have been made famous by TV programmes such as Geordie Shore and while the showsmay not be wholly representative of just how wonderful the City is, they've certainly put the City on the map.
