Cheviot View at Westcliffe House is a luxury 4 star ground floor holiday home sleeping upto four people in two stylish and comfortable bedrooms on the outskirts of Rothbury. It is perhaps our most spacious and impressive property enjoying uninterupted panoramic views of the Coquet Valley from the Living Room and Master Bedroom. Accessed at the very front of Westcliffe House, through the original house wooden front doors, Cheviot View has allocated off street parking and a private patio with flower pots, table and chairs to seat four people.
When you walk through the door you'll be amazed by the feeling of space and the simply stunning views of the Coquet Valley through almost every window. Through the tiled entrance porch (perfect for those muddy walking boots or towelling off the dog!) there is a large central hallway with access to all the other rooms. All the accommodation in Cheviot View is on one level, with only two small steps to enter the property.
Why we love Cheviot View in Rothbury
You simply won't get a better view from your holiday accommodation anywhere in Northumberland! That's a bold statement I know, but once you've woken up to the beautiful Coquet Valley sunrise you'll never want to stay anywhere else again. Westcliffe House is set in two acres of beautifully maintained gardens so you'll always find a quiet spot in the sunshine to drink in those views.
To the left is the large Living Room, with French doors leading out onto a balcony overlooking the grounds and the glorious Northumberland countryside beyond. It's South facing so you get the sun streaming into this light and airy room almost all day. You probably won't need a TV with those stunning vistas to admire, but you have a 32" LCD TV with Sky Freeview and a DVD player should you wish to use them. Comfortable black leather sofas, coffee table, bookshelves, standard lamps and ornaments finish off this stylish living room perfectly. Through double doors the large, modern Kitchen offers granite worktops, oven/hob, microwave, kettle, toaster, fridge and seperate freezer, a family sized dishwasher, a washer/dryer and all the pots, pans and utensils you could possibly need in a self catering holiday home. It also has a beautiful glass dining table that comfortably seats four people.
The Master Bedroom has a king-sized bed, large wardrobe and chest of drawers for storage and most importantly those views! French doors open up the room to the patio and green countryside beyond, perfect for that romantic getaway! The Master also has a full En Suite with Villeroy and Boch fixtures and fittings and shower over bath. The second bedroom is a large twin room which also benefits from a full En Suite with the same quality fixtures and fittings and shower over the bath. Double doors in the twin room lead to a small, private courtyard area. Additional to the two En Suite bathrooms is a washroom accessed from the hallway with a third toilet and hand basin.
All our guests are welcome to enjoy the beautiful Grounds at Westcliffe House during their stay.
About the Location
Why we love
Rothbury
Rothbury is a wonderful, vibrant Village in the heart of the picturesque Coquet Valley. It's packed with amenities, great places to eat, shop, drink & even three art galleries!
Better than all that though it's the perfect gateway to the Northumberland National Park while still being a stone's throw from the coast & glorious beaches. The perfect holiday base really!
Known locally as the Capital of Coquetdale, the traditional Northumbrian Village of Rothbury is built on a hilllside in the sandstone Simonside Hills. It offers an excellent range of shops, with many art galleries, tea rooms, cafes and pubs. It makes a very convenient base for fishing and for walking into the Northumberland National Park and Simonside, as well as offering less strenuous riverside walks. Rothbury lies near the centre of rural Northumberland, 12 miles from Alnwick, 15 miles from Morpeth, 16 miles from unspoilt beaches and 29 miles from Newcastle upon Tyne. As such it has been a local centre since the 13th century and at various times had a castle, a market and magistrate's court. Nearby Cragside House and Gardens, home to Lord Armstrong is perhaps the most famous attraction in the area.
Rothbury serves as a hub for the outlying Villages and as such has a good choice of places to eat and drink. You might be surprised to hear that in such a small place not only are there a number of pubs and cafes, but there is also an Italian restaurant, an Indian restaurant, Chinese takeaway and chip shop! The numerous cafes are extremely popular with the walkers and cyclists.
Rothbury has an award-winning selection of local, independent shops in which you can buy practically anything from meat to shoes and wine. We have highlighted the best in independent retailers including crafts and gifts, food shops, supermarkets and clothing. There are also a number of art and crafts galleries that celebrate and sell original and local crafts.
