We will be re-opening our doors to guests as soon as it is safe to do so with strict and stringent cleaning policies that exceed industry standards. In the meantime future dates are still available to book with a totally flexible booking policy - should any holiday booked be affected by government travel restrictions we will re-arrange or refund in full. Poppies at Westcliffe House is a luxury ground floor holiday Cottage sleeping up to four people in two stylish and comfortable bedrooms on the outskirts of Rothbury. The Cottage is located at the rear of the Westcliffe House estate adjacent to peaceful woodland (carpetted with bluebells each Spring) and overlooking beautiful countryside fields. Poppies has an allocated parking space outside (with plenty of extra space in our car park if needed for further cars) and a seating area with table, chairs and a shared BBQ. Through the tiled entrance porch (perfect for those muddy walking boots or towelling off the dog!) there is a large central hallway with access to all the other rooms. All the accommodation at Poppies is on one level, with only a few steps outside to enter the property.
Why we love Poppies at Westcliffe House 
Believe it or not, Poppies is the smallest of the properties at Westcliffe House! Still a wonderful size for a holiday base in beautiful Northumberland.
Poppies is ideal as a couples retreat and for those wishing to enjoy everything Westcliffe has to offer at the budget friendly end of the scale.
Straight ahead of you is the comfortable open plan Living Room, Dining Room and Kitchen with French doors leading out onto a small patio. You have everything you need entertainment wise with a 32" LCD TV with Sky Freeview, a DVD player and some games and books for the kids. There's comfortable sofas, standard lamps and ornaments finishing off this stylish living room perfectly. The modern Kitchen area offers granite worktops, oven/hob, microwave, kettle, toaster, fridge and seperate freezer, a family sized dishwasher, a washer/dryer and all the pots, pans and utensils you could possibly need in a self catering holiday home. There is also a modern dining table and chairs that comfortably seats four people.
The Master Bedroom has a double bed, large wardrobe and chest of drawers for storage. The second bedroom is a twin room with adult-sized bunk beds and pleasant views over the countryside, bedside table and wardrobe. The Family Bathroom leads from the main hallway and has the same quality Villeroy and Boch fixtures and fittings as every property at Westcliffe, bath with shower over, hand basin and toilet.

Rothbury
Rothbury is a wonderful, vibrant Village in the heart of the picturesque Coquet Valley. It's packed with amenities, great places to eat, shop, drink & even three art galleries!
Better than all that though it's the perfect gateway to the Northumberland National Park while still being a stone's throw from the coast & glorious beaches. The perfect holiday base really!
Known locally as the Capital of Coquetdale, the traditional Northumbrian Village of Rothbury is built on a hilllside in the sandstone Simonside Hills. It offers an excellent range of shops, with many art galleries, tea rooms, cafes and pubs. It makes a very convenient base for fishing and for walking into the Northumberland National Park and Simonside, as well as offering less strenuous riverside walks. Rothbury lies near the centre of rural Northumberland, 12 miles from Alnwick, 15 miles from Morpeth, 16 miles from unspoilt beaches and 29 miles from Newcastle upon Tyne. As such it has been a local centre since the 13th century and at various times had a castle, a market and magistrate's court. Nearby Cragside House and Gardens, home to Lord Armstrong is perhaps the most famous attraction in the area.
Rothbury serves as a hub for the outlying Villages and as such has a good choice of places to eat and drink. You might be surprised to hear that in such a small place not only are there a number of pubs and cafes, but there is also an Italian restaurant, an Indian restaurant, Chinese takeaway and chip shop! The numerous cafes are extremely popular with the walkers and cyclists.
Rothbury has an award-winning selection of local, independent shops in which you can buy practically anything from meat to shoes and wine. We have highlighted the best in independent retailers including crafts and gifts, food shops, supermarkets and clothing. There are also a number of art and crafts galleries that celebrate and sell original and local crafts.
