River View at Westcliffe House has recently undergone a stunning renovation. This 3 bedroom holiday home sleeps upto six people, ideal for a large family or group of friends wishing to enjoy a stunning scenic retreat overlooking the Coquet valley on the outskirts of Rothbury. The majority of the accommodation in River View is on the ground floor with just the Master Bedroom with it's en suite on the first floor. The first thing you'll notice when you arrive (apart from that there is plenty of off street parking by the front door) is those views!
Why we love River View in Rothbury
Set in the Westcliffe House Estate, River View offers some of the most impressive views of Northumberland's countryside you could possibly imagine. It's such a great layout for families as well, two bedrooms downstairs (a double and a twin) and a Master Bedroom upstairs with En Suite to give Mum and Dad a bit of their own private space!
River View has a tiled entrance porch which is ideal for removing those walking boots or towelling down the dog during those wetter months and leads through to an entrance hallway. To the left you have a spacious Living Room that easily seats six with French doors leading out to the private patio area. You probably won't need a TV with those stunning vistas to admire, but you have a 32" LCD TV with Sky Freeview and NOW TV entertainment package and a DVD & BluRay player should you wish to use them. Comfortable sofas and chairs make the Living Room at River View a joy to relax in.
Double doors lead through from the Living Room to the large, modern Kitchen with a large dining table the comfortably seats six people. The Kitchen offers granite worktops, oven/hob, microwave, kettle, toaster, fridge and freezer, a family sized dishwasher and all the pots, pans and utensils you could possibly need in a self catering holiday home. There's also a utility room with a washing machine and more storage cupboards. Also downstairs, along the large hallway (which has it's own two seater leather sofa!) are the double and twin bedrooms and the family bathroom. Both the downstair bedrooms have plenty of space with wardrobes and bed side tables and are served by the family bathroom next door. The bathroom is top of the range with Villeroy and Boch fixtures and fittings, a shower over bath and a tiled floor.
Upstairs is the beautiful Master Bedroom with a king-sized bed and full En Suite with bath, toilet and hand basin, all Villeroy and Boch. The Master Bedroom plenty of storage space, a TV and those views out to the Coquet Valley and the river below.
All our guests are welcome to enjoy the beautiful Grounds at Westcliffe House during their stay.
About the Location
Why we love
Rothbury
Rothbury is a wonderful, vibrant Village in the heart of the picturesque Coquet Valley. It's packed with amenities, great places to eat, shop, drink & even three art galleries!
Better than all that though it's the perfect gateway to the Northumberland National Park while still being a stone's throw from the coast & glorious beaches. The perfect holiday base really!
Known locally as the Capital of Coquetdale, the traditional Northumbrian Village of Rothbury is built on a hilllside in the sandstone Simonside Hills. It offers an excellent range of shops, with many art galleries, tea rooms, cafes and pubs. It makes a very convenient base for fishing and for walking into the Northumberland National Park and Simonside, as well as offering less strenuous riverside walks. Rothbury lies near the centre of rural Northumberland, 12 miles from Alnwick, 15 miles from Morpeth, 16 miles from unspoilt beaches and 29 miles from Newcastle upon Tyne. As such it has been a local centre since the 13th century and at various times had a castle, a market and magistrate's court. Nearby Cragside House and Gardens, home to Lord Armstrong is perhaps the most famous attraction in the area.
Rothbury serves as a hub for the outlying Villages and as such has a good choice of places to eat and drink. You might be surprised to hear that in such a small place not only are there a number of pubs and cafes, but there is also an Italian restaurant, an Indian restaurant, Chinese takeaway and chip shop! The numerous cafes are extremely popular with the walkers and cyclists.
Rothbury has an award-winning selection of local, independent shops in which you can buy practically anything from meat to shoes and wine. We have highlighted the best in independent retailers including crafts and gifts, food shops, supermarkets and clothing. There are also a number of art and crafts galleries that celebrate and sell original and local crafts.
